My Life is Starting Over Again

     After a few years spent wandering the Balkan Peninsula with occasional lunges into the chilled Adriatic Sea, I've settled back in America. Sometimes retuning home is easy. Sometimes not. The difficulty depends on the day. I came back because my desire for extravagant trinkets eroded the money I spent years saving in a few months and the goodwill of friends and family I spent years earning ran out in a few weeks. I found a position in Lushnje. A city in Albania where girls dance in underground clubs, children call out to the few tourists for coins, and the men spend days drinking and nights hurling nets, gutting fish, and hand off the brittle bones to women who polish the bones until the cracks and dents morph into one smooth plate. I worked nights. I wiped the windows, swept fish bile back to the water, and served snacks to the men during breaks. Something called me back here. I don't know what. That's part of living? Isn't it? Not always understanding why you're in a certain place. Well, I'm back home. Back to the internet and libraries and cities and my life is starting over again.
